New Orleans,
La.- Be a tourist in your hometown during the
start of the "Fun in the Sun" summer series at
the Arts Market of New Orleans on Saturday, June
26th in lovely Palmer Park (where
South Claiborne and South Carrollton Avenues
meet). From 10 am to 4 pm, local artists will
exhibit handcrafted works- including stained
glass, metal sculptures, and paintings to
ceramic pieces, yard art, and prints- that evoke
New Orleans' unique cultural mix with an exotic
flair.
On the last Saturday of every month, the Arts
Council of New Orleans presents this free
festive outdoor gallery with local art, live
music, performances and creative crafts for
children. Food to satisfy every craving and
drinks on ice are sold in the Cuisine Corner;
including fish tacos prepared by Woody Ruiz of
Woody's Tacos.

Mixed- media artist Luis Perez was born and
raised in Leon, Mexico; Luis is proud of his
heritage and it influences the style and colors
of his painting. His home of ten years in Breaux
Bridge, Louisiana is the heart of Cajun country
and it has inspired much of the subject matter
in his creations. He constructs unique art using
salvaged wood and metal as well as Louisiana
rustic woods with paintings of regional fish.

Internacional de Louisiana perform
dances of Latin America and Spain in
traditional costume at 10:30 am, "Make a Maraca"
craft project all day after the show.

Live performances in the Music Tent include
Latin jazz by

Quartet at 1:00 pm, followed by
producers of the
Hispanic
Cultural & Performing Arts Series,
Ecos Latinos
at 2:30 pm. Ecos Latinos documents
live performances by Hispanic musicians and
dancers of Louisiana with visiting artists from
Latin
America.
